Therapy

At Jack Tizard School, therapy is integrated into every pupil's day. We believe that incorporating therapy principles into a pupil's daily life is the best way to help them to achieve his/her potential. Our main aim within Jack Tizard School, is to help children and young people to learn how to advocate for themselves and be as independent as possible.
The therapy team consists of Speech and Language Therapists, Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists. We often work together to make the best of everyone's expertise, and ensure we are all working towards the same goals. All of the therapists work closely with the teachers and teaching assistants to ensure that the recommended activities or exercises for specific pupils are integrated into the school setting.
The Jack Tizard School therapists' communicate with parents/carers regularly and we welcome their input. Parents, carers and other professionals can contact us at school for a chat or to ask us to see a particular child or young person. This could be via a phone call, email, spoken in person, in a written letter/note, via the home-school communication book, or in the messages book in the therapy office at school. Clinics

We are very lucky to have many speciality services come into our school to run their clinics on a regular basis throughout the year. By having these clinics based at our school, pupils miss out on less school time to attend appointments. Families often report that it is easier for them to travel to school clinics rather than to the hospitals, and usually, our pupils feel much more comfortable being seen at school than in an unfamiliar setting.
Some of the clinics we offer at Jack Tizard School include:

  • Splint clinic (for all students at Jack Tizard School)
  • Wheelchair clinic (For pupils with a GP registered in the boroughs of Westminster, Hammersmith & Fulham or Kensington & Chelsea).
  • Orthotics clinic
  • Orthopaedic clinic
  • Medical clinic
  • Dental clinic
